Thoughts on Animu: Bakemonogatari

Alright, I’m back from the dead and this time I promise to update more. I don’t really think I have a reason for the lack of updates aside from the fact that I’ve been sitting in front of my TV playing inFamous and some Blazblue with my friends. Also, for all you who don’t know I recently started a Dragon Quest Marathon. It’s been coming along fine. In my absence I have beaten Dragon Quest (unfortunately 2 wouldn’t work ;^^) and I’m currently playing Dragon Quest III (NES).

Now…back on topic.

I’ve been watching more and more anime nowadays and one of them recently caught my interests. Yes folks, that anime is Bakemonogatari. Bakemonogatari isn’t your average anime. This show is packed with everything good from godly crabs that induce weightless side effects from their stings to vampires that go to school.

Bakemonogatari centers on Koyomi Araragi, a third year high school student who is almost human again after briefly becoming a vampire. One day, a classmate named Hitagi Senjōgahara, who infamously never talks to anyone, falls down the stairs into Koyomi’s arms. He discovers that Hitagi weighs next to nothing, in defiance of physics. After being threatened by her, Koyomi offers her help, and introduces her to Meme Oshino, a middle-aged homeless man who helped him stop being a vampire.

Senjōgahara doesn't play around.

And did I mention… the art is fucking fantastic. I honestly haven’t seen something that looked this great since I watched The Count of Monte Cristo a few years back. But of course it would look amazing, SHAFT are the ones behind it. They never fail to impress.

Also, epic opening (It’s an instrumental, but the animation is great!)
